The gulf between State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and the government has further widened. The Supreme Court judgment has strengthened Nimmagadda. Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is said to be very unhappy over the ruling party attacking him on the basis of his caste. That’s why YSRCP suspects that Nimmagadda may reschedule the entire election. The election was unanimous at many places.
Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar took unilateral decision to postpone the elections. Nobody is denying this. At the same time the comments made by YSRCP leaders against him and the campaign being carried out against him on the social media has troubled him. Similarly, the leak of a letter written by him has also created a sensation. It is being said that Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has taken a decision to conduct the polls with central forces.
It is also being heard that he has decided to reschedule the entire election. However, it is learnt that some officials within the Election Commission have raised an objection over this. Some officials are said to have suggested to Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar that there will be legal problems and it would be good to reschedule in places where there are serious allegations. There are reports that the Election Commission is planning to cancel the poll process in some places in Chittoor and Guntur districts and reschedule them.
The Election Commission has taken serious note of what happened at Macherla in Guntur district. Similarly there are chances of the Election Commissioner rescheduling the polls in Jagan’s native district Kadapa. Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar feels that he has been personally insulted. Since his family members were dragged in the controversy, he is said to be very serious. All in all the Election Commission is likely to reschedule elections in few places after consultation with the government in accordance with the Supreme Court order. BJP, TDP and CPI all have demanded that the entire poll process should be cancelled and polls should be held afresh.
