YCP, TDP complain against each other to DGP

Alla Ramakrishna Reddy

The ruling YSR Congress and the Opposition Telugu Desam Party have lodged a complaint against each other with DGP Gautham Sawang on Monday accusing each other of resorting to violence and criminal politics.

YSR Congress MLA from Mangalagiri, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, met the DGP and alleged that the TDP leaders were indulging in provocative politics in the villages and resorting to planned violence. He also alleged that some of the TDP social media activists were circulating fake and misleading posts to create violence in the State. The social media posts and the statements of the local TDP leaders were leading to violence in the State and the YSR Congress activists were victimised. He sought a check on the social media activities of the TDP, besides a physical check on the party leaders at the grassroots.

An hour later, the TDP leaders also met the DGP and gave him a representation alleging that the ruling party was resorting to violence against the TDP leaders and activists. Former deputy chief minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, senior leaders Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy, Y V B Rajendra Prasad and others met the DGP and complained that six of the TDP leaders were killed across the State in the first 30 days of the new government.

The TDP leaders said that the government was indulging in political witch-hunt victimising the TDP cadre. They sought action against the YSR Congress leaders who killed six of the TDP leaders in the last 30 days.

Reacting to the complaints, the DGP, later told media persons that he had received the complaints and would study them carefully and take action against the guilty. Stating that law and order is on highest priorities of the government, the DGP said that they would not tolerate any attempt to breach the rule of law. It is to be seen how the violence witnessed at several places across the State would settle down as the new government moves on with its priorities.
