Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant have been named among the ‘Most Stylish People of 2024’. The inclusion has been because of their lavish wedding celebrations early 2024. The couple’s wedding ceremony was a spectacle, featuring several grand pre-wedding events, star-studded performances and magnificent display of wealth and glamour. Anant Ambani is the youngest son of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani. He married his childhood sweetheart Radhika Merchant on July 12, 2024. Anant Ambani serves as a director on the Boards of Reliance Industries, Jio Platforms, Reliance Retail Ventures, Reliance New Energy, and Reliance New Solar Energy.
A post shared on Facebook, shared an image of Anant Ambani, that shows him bruised with the caption ‘This is very sad day for the whole India, Goodbye Anant Ambani. ‘
When clicked on the image, a news article, allegedly published by NDTV can be seen, which claims that the Government of India ordered to arrest Anant Ambani for revealing sensitive information that could potentially harm the country’s economy.
The article claims that during the broadcast of ‘Jab we met’, the interaction with Rahul Kanwal, anchor of india Today, Anant Ambani disclosed some secrets of his additional income.
The article goes on to claim ‘The broadcast featuring Anant Ambani was removed from all TV channels and online platforms within half an hour of airing. Nevertheless, our editorial team managed to obtain a copy of the interview.’ Also when Rahul Kanwal handed him the phone, Anant Ambani was unaware that all his actions were being recorded on camera. He opened the link on the host's phone, entered all the data, topped up his account with 21,000 rupees, and answered the call.
Fact Check:
The claim is False. The article is a clickbait, attempting to promote an app called immediate 04 Duac.
When we searched for mainstream media reports about Anant Ambani being arrested, we found that no such incident occurred.
Upon searching for the interview of Anant Ambani by Rahul Kanwal, we found a video interview streamed on YouTube channel of India Today in February 2014, under the series ‘Jab We Met’. In the interview, they discussed a variety of topics, but nothing as claimed in the viral post. There was no discussion about any app, through which people can earn profits within hours.
Upon observing the news article by NDTV linked to the viral post, we could see that it is not an authentic NDTV article. The URL of the post starts with news.indiannewslive991.top, which is not an authentic news website. To confirm whether it is really a NDTV page, when we checked, we could see that none of the icons were working, along with the Home page icon, about us and other icons.
Only a link to a crypto currency site with the heading – ‘ Immediate 04 Duac’ is working.
