Are Class X students who got marks below 35 announced passed in AP?
a screenshot of the results of a student is being shared on social media by the users, claiming that the government has passed him even though he secured 17 and 11 marks in two subjects.
The Andhra Pradesh government released the Class X results on Monday and announced that 67.26 % of regular students, including 64.02 % of boys and 70.70% of girls passed the public exams.
After a few hours of the announcement, a screenshot of the results of a student is being shared on social media by the users, claiming that the government has passed him even though he secured 17 and 11 marks in two subjects. In another viral post, the users claimed that the government failed a student even though she got 25 marks in one subject, but passed another student who got 22 in the same subject. The users alleged that the government has ruined the education system in the state and about two lakh students failed the exams.
Fact Check:
It is true that the student in question in one post got 17 and 11 marks in two subjects, and another student got 22 in one subject as mentioned by the social media users, and they are announced passed by the government.
But, the result displayed on the government website reveals that these students are persons with special needs, and the physical disability code of one student is 13-SM while the other student's code is 2-HC.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued GO MS No 14, SE (Prog II) Dept, Dated 31-01-2019 providing certain exemptions and concessions to the Children with Special Needs, studying from Class VI to Class X. As the National Education Policy 2020 reaffirms the provisions contained with the Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016, the Government of Andhra Pradesh issued GO MS No 86 School Education (Prog II) Department, dated 29.12.2021 superseding the GO MS No 14. The GO MS No 86 can be downloaded from the Andhra Pradesh Residential Educational Institutes Society website, at

As per GO No 86, the government provided the exemptions and concessions based on the disability of the student. As per the Disability Code SM, the student in question is suffering from Mental Illness, and as per the code HC is Cerebral Palsy and the pass marks of these candidates are reduced from 35 to 10.
Though the students are announced passed by the government even when they got marks below 35, it is in accordance with the GO MS No 86 School Education (Prog II) Department, dated 29.12.2021.
