Fact Check: Chandrababu Naidu did not write any letter to his supporters about TDP’s alliance with the BJP

Amidst all this, a letter is in circulation on social media, especially WhatsApp, with the claim that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu addressed his followers and said that the coalition with BJP will last only till the elections are held.

The letter is shared on Facebook with caption: BREAKING: ఎన్నికల వరకే భాజపాతో పొత్తు, తెలుగు తమ్ముళ్లకు చంద్రబాబు లేఖ.

The Telugu text in the letter goes as:

ఎన్నికల వరకే భాజపాతో పొత్తు.

పోలవరానికి నిధులు ఇవ్వని కేంద్రాన్ని నిలదీస్తాం.. ఏపీకి ప్రత్యేక హోదాను ఎగ్గొట్టిన భాజపాను కడిగేస్తాం తెలుగు తమ్ముళ్లు సంయమనం పాటించాలి.. భాజపాతో పొత్తు విషయంలో ఎలాంటి ఆందోళన వద్దు.

తెలుగుదేశం, జనసేన, భారతీయ జనతా పార్టీ కూటమి రాబోయే ఎన్నికల్లో ఉమ్మడిగా పోటీ చేసే విషయంలో పార్టీ శ్రేణులు ఎలాంటి ఆందోళన చెందవద్దు. సీట్ల పంపకాలపై తుది చర్చలు ముగిసిన దృష్ట్యా.. ఎన్నికల ప్రచారంపై దృష్టిసారించాలి. గతంలో మనం విభేదించిన భారతీయ జనత పార్టీతో పొత్తు అనవసరం అని కొందరు భావిస్తున్నారు. కానీ, ఎన్నికల వరకే భారతీయ జనతా పార్టీతో పొత్తు ఉంటుందని మీకు తెలియజేస్తున్నా. కేంద్రంలో తిరిగి ఎన్డీఏ కూటమి ఏర్పడితే.. రాష్ట్ర ప్రయోజనాల కోసం కేంద్రంతో విభేదించడానికి సిద్ధంగా ఉన్నాం. ఏపీకి తలమానీకమైన పోలవరం ప్రాజెక్టుకు నిధులు ఇవ్వని భాజపా ప్రభుత్వాన్ని నిలదీస్తాం. పదేండ్లుగా ఏపీకి ప్రత్యేక హోదా ఇవ్వని నరేంద్ర మోడీని ప్రశ్నిస్తాం. ప్రత్యేక హోదా అంశాన్ని చట్టంలో చేర్చకుండా భాజపా తీరని అన్యాయం చేసింది. తెలుగుదేశం పార్టీ స్పెషల్ ప్యాకేజీని ఒప్పుకోలేదు. చివరి వరకు ప్రత్యేక హోదా కోసమే పోరాటం చేసింది. హైదరాబాద్ వల్ల నష్టపోయిన ఏపీకి ప్రత్యేక హోదా ఇవ్వకుండా స్పెషల్ ప్యాకేజీ పేరుతో రెండు పాచిపోయిన లడ్డూలు చేతిలో పెట్టిన కేంద్రాన్ని ఆంధ్రా ప్రజలు మర్చిపోలేదు. మూడు పార్టీల మధ్య స్నేహపూర్వక బంధం ఎన్నికల వరకు మాత్రమే కొనసాగుతుంది. తెదేపా శ్రేణులు, తెలుగు తమ్ముళ్లు కూటమి గెలుపు కోసం కృషి చేయాలి.

When translated, it claims that the alliance with BJP will last only till elections are conducted.

We will protest against the Centre for not giving funds to complete Polavaram.. We will wash away the BJP that denied special status to AP. TDP activists should exercise restraint.. There is no need to worry about the alliance with BJP. The party members should not worry about the Telugu Desam, Jana Sena, and Bharatiya Janata Party alliance contesting the upcoming elections jointly. Once the final discussion on seat sharing is complete, we should focus on the election campaign. Some feel that an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, with whom we had disagreement in the past, is unnecessary. But let me inform you that the alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party will be only till the elections. If the NDA alliance is formed again at the Centre, we are ready to disagree with the Centre for the interests of the state. We will condemn the BJP government for not providing funds for the Polavaram project, which is a big deal for AP. Let us question Narendra Modi who has not given special status to AP for 10 years. The BJP has done grave injustice by not making Special Status to AP as an Act. The TDP did not accept the special package and the party fought for special status till the end. The cordial relationship between the three parties will last only till the elections. The TDP ranks and the party functionaries should strive for the victory of the alliance.

Fact Check:

When we searched for the letter on the social media handles of TDP, we were not able to find any such posts. Even the TDP Mangalagiri handles, mentioned in the letter did not publish the letter.

When we searched the social media handles of Chandrababu Naidu, we found several tweets that showed support for the BJP. One of his tweets which shared the coalition statement has a caption that implies that they will function together after the elections also.

Another tweet in Telugu states “మోదీ గారి నాయకత్వంలో ఎన్డీయే దేశంలో 400 సీట్లను గెలుచుకుంటుంది. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ లో టీడీపీ-జనసేన-బీజేపీ కూటమిని 25 సీట్లలో గెలిపించి మోదీ గారి సహకారంతో రాష్ట్ర పునర్నిర్మాణం చేసుకోడానికి ప్రజలు సంకల్పించాలి.”

When translated, it states: “Under the leadership of Modi, the NDA will win 400 seats in the country. In Andhra Pradesh, the TDP-Janasena-BJP alliance should win 25 seats and people should resolve to rebuild the state with Modi's cooperation.”

There is no indication of the letter in circulation. When observed carefully, we can see that the letter has the date 20-23-2024, which confirms that the letter was not officially published by the party but a forged one.

Hence, the claim that the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to his followers indicating that the coalition with BJP will last only till the elections is False. The letter in circulation is a hoax.
