Claim :
Congress didn't nominate any candidate in Arunachal Pradesh because China may get angryFact :
The Indian National Congress (INC) has declared candidates in Arunachal Pradesh for general elections 2024
The election atmosphere is heating up in the country. Candidates from different parties started their door-to-door campaign and also on social media platforms. In between, there is a lot of negative campaigning and fake information also shared on social media. A particular write-up circulating on social media is drawing a lot of attention.
Users on various social media platforms are actively sharing it, with claims like “Congress didn't field any candidate in Arunachal Pradesh because China might get angry and also because it will be a breach of the 2009 MoU signed between the Congress and the Chinese Communist Party”.
Fact Check: The claim is false. The INC has already declared candidates from the Assembly & Parliamentary constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh for the upcoming elections.
When we searched the keyword Congress candidates for Arunachal Pradesh, we found an article published by Arunachal 24 website. According to the article: “Congress nominated former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki from the Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat, where he will face sitting MP and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, also Bosiram Siram has been fielded from the Arunachal East seat against sitting BJP MP Tapir Gao”.
When we searched the key word Nabam Tuki, we found on March 26, 2024, a post shared by the official Arunachal Congress which said Shri Nabam Tuki filing nomination papers for 1- Arunachal West Parliamentary Constituency for Lok Sabha Elections, 2024.
While going through the candidates’ affidavit list on the ECI website, we found both Nabam Tuki & Bosiram Siram nominations were accepted.
We also found the final list of INC MLA candidates officially qualified to contest in the Assembly Elections-2024 in Arunachal Pradesh, shared by Arunachal Congress.
Indian Express also published an article with a headline “Congress releases first list of candidates for Arunachal Pradesh Assembly”.
According to Arunachal Times “Tuki to contest MP election on Congress ticket”.
Hence, the claim is False. Congress has already declared candidates from both the Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh for the upcoming general elections.
