Celebrities all around the world face significant invasion of their personal lives on social media. Any small issue is magnified and published on several SM platforms. One such celebrity whose personal life was totally invaded was Mohammed Shami. Shami is a right arm fast bowler playing for the Indian team in all formats of cricket. He has been a very successful bowler and worked wonders for the Indian cricket team. However, his personal life captured significant media attention due to the disturbed relationship with his ex-wife Hasin Jahan. Their marriage ended amidst serious allegations and legal battles. In 2018, Hasin Jahan accused Mohammed Shami of match fixing, infidelity and demostic violence, which led to their separation. After a long legal battle, court mandated Mohammed Shami to pay her Rs 1.30 lakhs per month in alimony as of January 2023. Though Shami was cleared of all the charges made against him, he had to face tremendous pressure due to media scrutiny.

Hasin Jahan, who was a model and actress before marriage, continued to pursue her career. As of now, Mohammed Shami and Hasin Jahan are divorced, living separately. Shami remains a prominent figure in cricket, while Jahan continues to be active in the modeling and acting industries.
Recently, in IPL auction 2025, Shami was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 10 crore. After this auction, a few social media users starting sharing a video of Mohammed Shami’s ex-wife, Hasin Jahan dancing. The caption in the viral post reads: “No way Mohammad Shami's ex wife posted this reel after he got sold for 10cr to SRH #IPLAuction #IPLAuction2025”


Fact Check:

The claim is Misleading. The video was posted on November 14, 2024 whereas the IPl 2025 auction took place on Novmeber 24, 2024.
When we extracted keyframes from the viral video and searched using Google reverse image, we found that the video was published by official Instagram handle of Hasin Jahan on November 14, 2024 with the hashtags like #womanpower, #womenempowerment.
We also found a report stating that the video reel was published by Hasin Jahan on November 14, 2024. The report also states that she has more than 2 lakh followers. The report also discusses the comments and reactions of the followers.
When we checked the Indian Premier League X handle, we found that the auction took place on November 24, 2024. IPL shared a post with caption “You want pace, you get pace! Mohammad Shami joins #SRH for INR 10 Crore #TATAIPLAuction, #TATAIPL, @MdShami11, |@SunRisers”
Hence, the video reel of Mohammed Shami’s ex wife Hasin Jahan was posted well before the IPL auction in which Mohammed Shami was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 10 crore. The video was posted on November 14, 2024 and the IPL auction took place on November 24, 2024. The claim is Misleading.
