The Lilong police in Manipur arrested three Muslim youths for slaughtering a cow. They were arrested and booked under various sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 after social media was abound with videos of the cow being slaughtered on the BJP flag by a group of youths.
According to the Times of India, the cow was slaughtered after BJP announced its tickets for all the 60 seats for the Assembly polls. The video clip showing a blood-soaked cow lying on a BJP flag with some people in the background hurling abuses at Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and Manipur unit BJP president A. Sharda Devi, went viral on social media.
They have been charged under the provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and promoting enmity among different religious groups.
Therefore, the graphical video of a group of people killing a cow with the BJP flag underneath the animal is not from Karnataka and not recent. The claim is misleading.
