Fact Check: I.N.D.I.A alliance did not tweet condemning the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu
I.N.D.I.A alliance did not tweet condemning arrest of Chandrababu Naidu
Claim :
I.N.D.I.A alliance tweeted condemning the arrest of TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu.Fact :
The tweet was made by an imposter account, the account does not belong to I.N.D.I.A alliance.
Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu was arrested early in the morning in Nandyal on September 9, 2023, by the Andhra Pradesh police for involvement in Andhra Pradesh Skill Development scam. Following this, several TDP party leaders were placed under house arrest.
Several leaders across the country condemned this arrest.
Meanwhile, an X account @2024_FOR_INDIA responded to the arrest, in support of Chandrababu Naidu. Even the BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh also condemned the actions of the state police.
After this tweet emerged, a few platforms shared the news claiming that I.N.D.I.A alliance and BJP also condemned the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu.
The tweet of the X account (formerly Twitter) I.N.D.I.A goes “DEMOCRACY is backsliding We stand with Chandrababu Naidu When dictatorship is a fact, revolution will become a right. It's just a matter of time! #WeWillStandWithCBNSir #
Not only this tweet, the X account can be seen continuously posting videos and posts about the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu and the protests of the TDP leaders.
Here is the archive of the Tweet.
The link of the post shared on a discussion board named Andhra Friends.com. It claims: “చంద్రబాబు arrest ని ఖండించిన AP BJP, I.N.D.I.A Alliance” can be seen here.
Fact Check:
The claim is FALSE. The I.N.D.I.A alliance parties have not condemned the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu.
Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) is a mega political alliance of 26 political parties in India, led by the Indian National Congress. This alliance was formed on July 18, 2023.
Even after a thorough search, we were unable to find any social media accounts or a website in the name of I.N.D.I.A political alliance.
When we searched the X account handle @2024_For_INDIA, the bio of the account states that the account was created in April 2010, whereas the alliance was formed only in July 2023 and it has only 3,414 followers.
When we searched for the history of the account and other social media accounts using social-searcher.com, social media profile searching website, we found a few discrepancies in the tweets of the account. The name of the account can be seen as sandeep2009 on the older tweets.
A tweet published by the same account in May 2014 was responded to by a user, and the handle can be clearly seen as @Sandeep2009.
Here is the screenshot.
When we searched for the activities of the Twitter handle @Sandeep2009 on X, we found the tweets presently under the name of @2024_For_India reflecting under this handle too.
Therefore, the Twitter handle @2024_FOR_INDIA does not belong to the INDIA alliance formed by 26 parties in the country. It is an imposter account that is tweeting many regional and national issues mimicking the alliance. The previous handle @Sandeep2009 was changed to @2024_FOR_INDIA.
The tweet condemning the arrest of TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh was not made by the INDIA alliance. The claim is false.
