An infographic allegedly shared by Puthiya Thalaimura, a Tamil media channel, is viral on social media. The infographic carries a picture of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin and claims that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is investigating a sexual misconduct complaint that has been filed against Stalin.
The post reads, “In the 1970s, a news agency WikiLeaks filed an allegation of sexual misconduct with various women, but no action has yet been taken against it! Currently, the Central Intelligence Agency is planning to conduct an investigation in this regard.”
FACT CHECK:
Firstly, there has been no official report on the CIA investigating a sexual misconduct complaint that has been filed against Stalin. No media organization or official spokesperson has confirmed the news.
Secondly, we could not find this postcard on any of Puthiya Thalaimura’s platforms. No such information was shared on their social media handles or websites. We also noticed that the font style used in the viral infographic does not match the style used in official infographics published by Puthiya Thalaimura. This indicated that the viral post could be fake.
Also, we found an official confirmation by Puthiya Thalaimura clarifying that the media house did not publish the infographic. It very clearly states it is fake news.
