The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule of the Lok Sabha elections and also Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. Both elections would be held on May 13, 2024, in Andhra Pradesh. The counting of the votes will be done on June 4, 2024.
The graphic having ‘way2news’ logo along with text in Telugu has been shared by several social media users with the claim that the tripartite alliance is working in favour of the YSRC party. In case elections are conducted now in Andhra Pradesh, YSRCP will win 121-134 seats while the TDP-JSP and BJP alliance will win only 23-41 seats out of the total 175 seats. Support for Jagan has grown among the general public in the last 1 month. The elections are looking like one versus all parties.
Fact check:
The claim is False. The South First-Peoples Pulse did not conduct any such survey on the Andhra Pradesh assembly election results.
When we searched, we found that Peoples Pulse research conducted a tracker poll survey for South First predicting the political situation in Telangana. It showed that Congress was going to win more seats in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. According to this survey, the ruling Congress party is going to win more than half of the 17 Lok Sabha Seats in Telangana.
However, we did not find any surveys relating to the assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh.
When searched the social media handles of South First, we found that they rubbished the claims and stated that “A fake graphic plate claiming to be a pre-poll survey by @TheSouthfirst and Peoples Pulse for #AndhraPradesh is doing the rounds. South First, People’s Pulse has not carried out any pre-poll survey for Andhra so far. This image misusing South First's name is fake.”
Way2News, a short news provider app, debunked the claim and stated that it was not a way2news story. Some miscreants are spreading misinformation using our logo in #MetaGroups, and the 'attached post' has gone viral. We confirm that this has not been published by @way2news.
Therefore, the claim is False. South First did not conduct any survey relating to the Andhra Pradesh assembly election results predicting the victory of the YSRC party. The graphic shared is an edited one.
