Meanwhile, a message is doing rounds on social media claiming that Rachin Ravindra, the New Zealand star cricketer, left India 3 years ago, as he faced caste discrimination in India.

When translated, it claims: “Brahmin Rachin Ravindra Krishnamurti scored 100 against Pakistan. Well-done brother, you left India 3 years ago or these people after seeing your caste would have termed you a supporter of Brahminism. Don’t propagate such thoughts. Today on the same Bangalore soil where Ravindra left India after suffering caste discrimination has scored a century against Pakistan.”

According to cricbuzz.com, born to Indian parents in Wellington, Rachin Ravindra is an attacking left-hand batter who can also bowl some quality left-arm spin. Thanks to his all-around skills, he was identified as a special talent in the domestic circuit and got ample opportunities with the U-19 and New Zealand A side, before making bigger and better strides. With a healthy strike rate of around 100 in the shorter formats, Rachin usually plays at the top of the order for Wellington and is known for his attacking channels with the ball.
According to the New Zealand cricket website, Rachin’s first name is a fuse between Indian cricket greats Rahul David and Sachin Tendulkar. He was a Hutt International Boy’s school opening and left-arm orthodox bowler who was named New Zealand cricket’s Young Player of the Year in February after he hit the headlines for turning out as the youngest member of the New Zealand Under-19 team at this year’s ICC World Cup in Bangladesh.
According to cricreads.com, Rachin Ravindra’s father, Ravi Krishnamurthy is a software architect who previously participated in club-level cricket in Bangalore, his hometown, before making New Zealand his home in 1997. His mother’s name is Deepa Krishnamurthy.
