Andhra Pradesh is preparing for the upcoming assembly and general elections in April/May 2024. A few organizations are conducting pre-election surveys to predict which party, TDP alliance or YCP, has better prospects for victory. The pre-poll survey outcome by ELECSENSE predicts 122 MLA seats for the YSRC party and 53 seats for the TDP and JS alliance. India Today's ‘Mood of the Nation’ survey predicted that out of 25 MP seats in Andhra Pradesh, TDP will win 17 and the YSRC party is expected to win the remaining 8 seats.
Another graphic claiming to be the survey conducted by Republic TV is shared virally on social media with the claim that it shows the pre-poll survey for the assembly seats in the state of Andhra Pradesh as of 08-02-2024.
Some of the social media users are sharing the survey results showing 132 seats for the TDP JS alliance, 41 seats for the YSRC party, and 2 for others.
Others shared the survey results showing 132 seats for the YSRC party, 41 for the TDP JS alliance, and 2 seats for others.
A few users shared a pie chart graphic in Telugu language with the RTV logo and the source quoted is www.republicworld.com
Fact Check:
The claim is False. No such survey has been published by the Republic TV network.
When observed, we see that the graphics have the same numbers but some users are showing graphics with maximum seats to the YSRC party while some users are sharing the graphics showing maximum seats to the TDP-JS alliance.
The graphic in the Telugu language can be seen displaying the logo of the RTV News Network while showing the source as www.republicworld.com.
When we checked the website of Republic World, we could not find any survey published by them.
Upon further search, we found an X user commented on one of the viral posts shared that the Republic TV network has refuted the claims of conducting any such survey.
There was no information found on their website and Republic TV also issued a statement on its social media accounts stating “It has come to our notice that fake propaganda is being circulated using the morphed logo of Republic Media Network. It is clarified that the Republic has not conducted any pre-election survey in the state of Andhra Pradesh, as is being falsely circulated.”
Hence, the graphics in circulation in the name of Republic TV survey are all hoax messages. There is no such survey conducted by Republic TV. The claim is False.
