During a Parliamentary meeting held in New Delhi, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), spearheaded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), came to a unanimous decision. The alliance leaders reaffirmed their support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, selecting him as the leader of the NDA and the Prime Minister of the country.
In this backdrop, a video is in circulation on social media claiming that Nitin Gadkari did not stand and applaud for Modi.
Social media users shared the video with the claim “Watch how Nitin Gadkari refused to stand up and chant Modi Modi . Glad someone showed the spine to resist this distasteful circus”.
Fact check: We found the claim is false. The viral video was edited and shared with a false narrative. In the original video, Nitin Gadkari stands up to congratulate Narendra Modi and extends his support for him as the NDA Parliamentary Party leader.
During our search, we found a live stream video uploaded by ANI. At the 26:00 timestamp, when Modi enters the hall, Nitin Gadkari is seen standing and clapping to congratulate him.
At the 26:55 timestamp, we observe Modi and Nitin Gadkari greeting each other.
After Modi enters the meeting, everyone takes their seat, but they stand again following an announcement that J.P. Nadda will felicitate Modi.
At the 27:56 timestamp, Nitin Gadkari, along with other leaders, stands up to congratulate Modi.
At the 48:56 timestamp, Gadkari is seen extending his support for naming Modi as the NDA Parliamentary Party leader.
A Twitter user uploaded a small clip revealing the truth, captioned, "Check Nitin Gadkari ji how he cheered for Narendra Modi Ji."
As per Jehlam Times “Gadkari supports proposals at the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting”.
ANI also published an article on June 7, 2024, with the heading “Nitin Gadkari supports proposal of naming Narendra Modi as the NDA Parliamentary Party Leader”.
Hence, the claim is false. According to our investigation and various media reports, the original video shows Nitin Gadkari not only standing to congratulate Modi but also extending his support to Narendra Modi as the NDA Parliamentary Party leader.
