A video of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and district collector Varun Reddy at the inauguration ceremony of the collector's office in Telangana's Nirmal district, is viral on social media claiming to show the duo performing only Isalmic prayers at the event.
Netizens claim that no other religious prayers were offered at the ceremony and that it shows the 'Islamization of India' as only Islamic rituals were performed.
FACT CHECK:
We checked out the live stream of the inauguration ceremony on T News Telugu’s YouTube channel. The live stream clearly shows Islamic rituals, Hindu and Christian religious practices being performed. In the video, one can observe Hindu rituals at 1:23, Islamic rituals at 1:28 and Christian rituals at 1:29. A puja, Islamic prayers and Christian prayers were offered during the inauguration ceremony.
Photographs on the Telangana government website also show Hindu saints at the event.
With this, it is clear that the video is misleading. While the Islamic rituals were observed at the ceremony, Hindu and Christian rituals were also observed.
