Fact Check: Vijayamma did not pray for humiliating defeat of YSRCP, the video is old and misleading
Jagan’s YSRCP was not only defeated in a humiliating way, it did not even gain enough seats to become the principal opposition party. Any party has to secure at least 10% of the total number of seats to qualify as the official opposition and name a leader of the opposition in the state legislature.

Meanwhile, a video of YS Vijayamma, mother of YS Jaganmohan Reddy, is going viral with the claim that she is saying she prayed to God that YSRCP should not get the status of main opposition party. This video is shared with caption ‘దేవుడున్నాడు విజయలక్ష్మి గారు.. ఉన్నాడు..’. ప్రతిపక్ష హోదా కూడా దక్కకూడదని ప్రార్థించా: వైఎస్ విజయమ్మ ఏపీ అసెంబ్లీ ఎన్నికల్లో వైసీపీ కేవలం 11 స్థానాలు మాత్రమే సాధించి, ప్రతిపక్ష హోదా కూడా దక్కించుకోలేక పోయింది. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో వైఎస్ విజయమ్మ చేసిన వ్యాఖ్యలు వైరల్గా మారాయి. “ప్రతిపక్ష హోదా కూడా లేకుండా చేయాలని దేవుడిని ప్రార్థించాను. ఆయన నా ప్రార్థనను నిజం చేశారు” అని పేర్కొన్నారు. దీంతో 'దేవుడున్నాడు విజయలక్షిగారు' అంటూ నెటిజన్లు కామెంట్ చేస్తున్నారు.
When translated, it claims: “In the AP Assembly elections, YSRC won only 11 seats and could not even get the opposition status. In this context, YS Vijayamma's comments have gone viral. "I prayed to God that YSRCP should not secure the status of opposition party. He made my prayer come true." To this, netizens are commenting: 'God is there, Vijayalakshmi garu'.
Fact Check:
The claim is misleading. YS Vijayamma’s statement is an old one from the year 2019 when YSRC party won the Assembly elections and TDP could win only 23 seats.
When we searched the keyframes extracted from the video, we found a longer video published on a YouTube channel named Siri TV 5 years ago on May 23, 2019 with the title ‘YS Jagan along with Vijayamma and family members on winning in 2019 general elections’. In this video, after YS Jaganmohan Reddy talks about his win, we can hear YS VIjayamma saying “I prayed to God that no party (TDP) does not get the main opposition party status, God heard my prayers. My son achieved this.”
In this video, we can see the mic with the Sakshi TV logo on it and anchor Swapna. When searched further, we found that the video was first published by Sakshi TV with the title ‘YS Jaganmohan Reddy I YS Vijayamma I YS Bharati I Face to Face – Watch exclusive’. The viral video starts at 4.27 minutes and continues till 4.35 minutes. She states that God listened to her and her son won.
Hence, the viral video was in circulation from 2019, when YSRCP swept the elections and TDP could win only 23 seats. The claim is Misleading.
