After effectively managing Cyclone Dana with a zero-casualty objective, the Odisha government has now turned its focus to restoration efforts following extensive damage to crops, thatched homes, and public infrastructure.
State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari stated that the government is prioritizing the restoration of essential facilities and the rehabilitation of affected residents, especially farmers. A central team is expected to visit soon to assess the damage further, but the state government intends to begin disbursing assistance and compensation immediately, he added.
In the backdrop, a video showing large waves crashing onto the shore near a house is going viral online, with many users linking it to the impact of Cyclone Dana, that hit Odisha recently.

The viral video is not related to the recent cyclone in Odisha, as it has been available on the internet for several years.
During the reverse image search, we found it to be uploaded by Indian Express, on May 26, 2021, mentioning that Cyclone Yaas makes landfall leaving some areas in Odisha and West Bengal flooded.
Similarly, on May 25, 2021, Sambad shared the said video on its YouTube channel and mentioned in the title, "Impact of Cyclone Yaas in Digha."
The Statesman posted the same photo on its website with a news report on June 6, 2021, stating that a central-level team is coming soon to assess the damage caused by the storm.
On May 26, 2021, Kalinga TV posted the news on its website and mentioned that the wind speed was 140-145 km per hour at the time of Cyclone Yaas' landfall.
On May 25, 2021, AsiaNet shared the same photo and mentioned, "Impact of Cyclone Yaas in Digha."
This confirms that the video was available online well before Cyclone Dana, proving it has no connection to the recent cyclone in Odisha.
On the other hand, some YouTube channels have shown it as Cyclone Taukte in 2021, which affected parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
News 9 Live has uploaded a video on May 16, 2021, stating that it is linked to Cyclone Tauket.
Similarly, HW News English shared the said video and stated that it was cyclone Taukte.
The video appears to be from a coastal area and was likely recorded by a local resident on a mobile phone, rather than by any media outlet. However, investigations have not identified the location or the specific cyclone associated with the footage.
