Fact Check:
The claim that the Indian PM is watching the Pathan movie trailer in the video is false. The original video shows Prime Minister watching Chandrayaan-2 launch by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro).
When the key frames extracted from the video were searched using Google reverse image search, we found that the video has been morphed. The original video shows Modi watching the live telecast of the launch of Chandrayaan-2.
The original video was shared by ANI on its Twitter account in July 2019.
A longer version of the video was also shared by the YouTube channel of India Today in 2019 with the title PM Modi Watching Live Telecast Of Chandrayaan-2 Launch. The video description states that ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi watched the live telecast of Chandrayaan-2 launch by Isro. Isro’s Moon Mission, Chandrayaan-2, was successfully launched from the Sriharikota space station.
After a tense countdown at the Isro space centre, Chandrayaan-2 launch took place on a Monday, after the initial attempt on July 15 was abandoned due to a technical snag, while being watched by many across the nation.
Chandrayaan-2 took aboard the most powerful GSLV-Mk-III rocket, dubbed ‘Baahubali’. #NarendraModi #
In his recent speech, Modi warned his ministers to focus on work rather than make unnecessary comments on films. During the BJP national executive meeting in New Delhi, PM Modi said, “No one should make unnecessary comments that would overshadow the hard work we do.”
The same video was previously viral with the claim that Modi is watching the last episode of Ramayana, a TV series telecast on DD National. This claim was debunked by several fact-check organizations in 2020.
