Fact check:
The claim that the video shows real drone technology is False. The video is made using Computer-generated imagery.
When observed carefully, we found the watermark @pacifico_seguros on the video.
When the keyframes extracted from the video were searched using Google reverse image search along with the keywords ‘Pacifico Seguros’, we found the same video shared on the Facebook page Pacifico Seguros with the caption in Spanish “Liberamos nuestros drones por la Panamericana Sur para monitorear cada km y atender de inmediato cualquier emergencia . Este verano, recuerda que #NoEstásSolo “. When translated it states ‘We release our drones along the Panamericana street to monitor every km and immediately attend to any emergency.’
A similar video was also published by them with the same caption.
According to their website, Pacifico Seguras is an insurance provider in Peru.
The LinkedIn page of the company shared the viral video on March 27, 2024 with the caption “A few days ago we unveiled our CGI advertising campaign and it became clear to us that it is something that many of us would like to be true. What is real is that we will always be ready to protect you. This summer, we have deployed 4 stations on the South Pan-American Highway to be closer when you need us. We have a whole team of ambulances, tow trucks, mechanical assistance and drones that monitor the road in order to help you promptly. This summer with Pacific #NoEstásSolo”
This confirms that the video is a CGI-generated advertisement released by Pacifico Seguros.
An article published on mercadonegro.pe states that Pacifico seguros has joined the Computer Generated Imagery trend, launching a new campaign in which it uses drones to transport its units to the South of Lima. In the video, you can see how these drones load the company’s vehicles to direct them to the south of the city, where thousands of Lima residents gather looking to get out of their routine and relax at sea.
Therefore, the viral video is a CGI advertisement created by an insurance company named Pacifico Seguros located in Peru, and does not show real drone technology. The claim is False.
