Claim :
Viral video shows water leaking inside a Vande Bharat Express trainFact :
The train seen leaking is not Vande Bharat Express, it is inside a coach of Garib Rath Express
Heavy rains hit the national capital - Delhi, and also other states like Gujarat leading to flooding of low-lying areas and creating havoc due to waterlogging in several areas. There were significant disruptions and damages to power lines and roads in the state leading to inconvenience. In Delhi, roof of a terminal in the airport collapsed killing a person and injuring several others. In Uttar Pradesh, two women were killed after a water tank collapsed in heavy rain.
Amidst this, a video showing water leaking inside the cabin of a train is in circulation on X (Twitter) with the claim that the world-class Vande Bharat train is leaking and the passengers are getting a free shower facility and satirically highlights that this time, it is the leakage Sarkar (government), indirectly hinting at the leakage of NEET-UG and UGC-NET question papers too.
The claim goes as “Abki baar #Leakage Sarkar. After Temple, Bridge & Airports…. Here is the video from Vande Bharat Train. The roof of the WORLD CLASS #VandeBharat train is leaking. Passengers on the train get free SHOWER FACILITY. Thank you @AshwiniVaishnaw & @
Fact Check:
The claim is Misleading. The leakage was seen inside a coach of Garib Rath Express, not Vande Bharat Express.
When observed carefully, we found that the train number can be seen in the video. The train number is 12215/12216 and the coach number is G-12. We searched for this train number on Google and found that the train is Bandra Terminus Garib Rath Express.
When we searched the website indiarailinfo.com, we could confirm that the train with the number 12215 is called Delhi Sarai Rohilla – Bandra Terminus Garib Rath Express.
Upon further search, we found that the same video was published by the YouTube channel of Zee Business on June 29, 2024, with the title ‘Rain Water Leaks in 3 AC Garib Rath train. Train no. 12215/12216’.
The description of the video states “एक वीडियो सोशल मीडिया पर वायरल हो रहा है, जिसमें एक ट्रेन में बारिश का पानी झरने की तरह गिरता दिखाई दे रहा है. लोग सोशल मीडिया पर इस घटना को लेकर शिकायत कर रहे हैं. यह घटना गरीब रथ ट्रेन नंबर 12215/12216 में घटी है. यह ट्रेन 3 एसी क्लास की है.”
When translated, it states that “A video is going viral on social media, in which rainwater is seen falling like a waterfall in a train. People are complaining about this incident on social media. This incident happened in Garib Rath train number 12215. It occurred in 3rd class AC.”
According to a post by the official X (Twitter) account of Western Railway, a clarification was issued rubbishing these claims. The clarification states that there was a water leakage in coach G-12 of train number 12215, Bandra Terminus – Delhi Sarai Rohilla Garib Rath Express between Ajmer and Falna stations (this is not Vande Bharat Train). The train was stopped before Falna, and the water leakage problem was rectified.
Therefore, the viral video shows water leakage in a coach of Garib Rath Express but not Vande Bharat. It is the G-12 coach of Garib Rath Express. The claim is Misleading.
