IT raids irk TDP leaders in AP

The Income Tax raids on the Telugu Desam Party leaders in Andhra Pradesh, particularly on the close associates of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, are causing severe inconvenience to the ruling party leaders. They are trying to blame the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for these raids terming them as witch-hunt.

The TDP leaders are leaving no stone unturned to call these raids as witch-hunt for their fight against the BJP and Central government over the State issues. The raids were held on TDP leaders Beeda Mastan Rao, Pothula Rama Rao, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Y S Chowdary and now C M Ramesh. Interestingly, all of them are the close associates of Chandrababu Naidu. Except for Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and Y S Chowdary, the others have become rich and big contractors or industrialists only after the TDP’s return to power in 2014.

Irked at the raids, TDP leader and Rajya Sabha member, C M Ramesh called the raids a political vendetta. He is a director of several firms such as Rithwik Properties, Global Earth Minerals, Anjandri Power Private Limited, Kadapa Power Private Limited and bagged multi-crore projects in AP and Uttarakhand.

Their turnover is reported to be around Rs 1,000 crore. On Friday, IT personnel raided Ramesh’s residence in Jubilee Hills, which is adjacent to the house of Chandrababu Naidu, the office of Rithwik Projects Private Limited in Banjara Hills, offices in Delhi and at his native place Proddatur in Kadapa district.

Ramesh companies were given contracts worth crores of rupees on nomination basis and majority of the irrigation works in Rayalaseema region are handled by his companies. The IT officials found this violation of rules in making money.
