Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, makes a misstep again

Vangaveeti Radhakrishna

Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, a former legislator and scion of late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, made a misstep once again. His life is full of such missteps all through, some of his mother’s and some of his own.

When he was a child and his mother, Rathna Kumari, was a legislator, she took the extreme step of changing the surname of the family from Vangaveeti to her maternal family name Chennupati. She claimed that it was required for her and her children to wipe out the violence associated with her husband’s family name, Vangaveeti. She left the Congress and joined the Telugu Desam Party.

But, it did not help her and she had to quit active politics silently. A few years later, Radhakrishna had joined the active politics and contested the elections, reverting back his surname to Vangaveeti. Though late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy tried to convince him to wait for some more time to get into direct politics, Radhakrishna insisted on contesting. This had forced Rajasekhar Reddy to give him the ticket and get him elected to the Assembly in the first attempt in 2004.

The young boy quit the Congress in no time and joined Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party ahead of the 2009 elections. That election showed him what he is to the people and he is not a true heir of late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, who was the staunch supporter of Rajasekhar Reddy.

He lost the 2009 elections and had jumped into the YSR Congress. He lost the 2014 election on YSR Congress ticket and then moved on to the TDP just before the crucial 2019 general elections. He made several allegations against YSR Congress and its chief Jaganmohan Reddy while sitting on the lap of the TDP leadership, which could not accommodate him to contest.

Now, after the poor show of the TDP in the just-concluded general elections, Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, made yet another misstep by meeting Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and getting green signal from him to join the party. In fact, it was felt that he would make this move before the 2019 elections, but he did not. Like in the past, he took the wrong decision to join the TDP, which is accused of killing his father. Now, when there are no signs of the Jana Sena winning any election in the near future, his move to join this party is seen as another misstep by this thoughtless overambitious leader.
