Breaking News: Parakala quits as AP Govt media advisor

Parakala Prabhakar had resigned to the Andhra Pradesh government as its media advisor on Tuesday. He had sent his resignation to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Though he did not cite any reason for his resignation, Parakala is understood to have quoted the statement of YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy against his continuation.

Jaganmohan Reddy, during his Praja Sankalpa Yatra in East Godavari district accused Chandrababu Naidu of having open understanding and alliance with the BJP. Referring to Telugu Desam Party leaders criticism that YSR Congress is having a secret understanding with the Bharatiya Janata Party, Jaganmohan Reddy said neither he nor his party has any understanding with the BJP. “It is Chandrababu Naidu who is having an open understanding with the BJP. He is continuing Parakala Prabhakar as government advisor while Prabhakar’s wife continues to the BJP’s Minister in the Union Cabinet. Chandrababu Naidu also having an understanding with the BJP leaders and which is why he had appointed a BJP Minister’s wife as TTD member,” Jaganmohan Reddy said.

Parakala, according to information available, had reportedly told the Chief Minister about Jaganmohan Reddy’s criticism of his continuation. However, it is said that Parakala Prabhakar himself is not happy working with Chandrababu Naidu, after the TDP’s break-up with the BJP. Chandrababu Naidu had already appointed a representative of the corporate public relations company – M Group – as the government advisor and had introduced him in the Collectors’ Conference held last month. Since then, Parakala is feeling uncomfortable and was feeling that his importance is reduced in the government affairs.

Interestingly, Parakala was part of Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party and played key role in the party those days. However, for reasons best known to him, Parakala held a press conference in Praja Rajyam Party office and levelled several charges against the party and Chiranjeevi before leaving the party. Though he had quit the party, he was criticised for using the Praja Rajyam Party office to hurl abuses at the same party. That way, Chandrababu Naidu is fortunate and Parakala had quit the government advisor post without making any comment against Chandrababu Naidu or TDP government.
