Is CBI former JD floating a party?

Former CBI  joint director V V Lakshminarayana, a senior IPS officer of Maharastra cadre, had put in his papers for voluntary retirement. This is not because he wanted to spend his retired life in peace. He has some political agenda behind his early retirement. Though the government is yet to clear his papers and give him adieu, he is planning to float his own political party, as per the indications available.

It was initially thought that he would join the BJP, while a few speculated that he would associate with Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena. But, now it is clear that he would be floating his own political party. Interestingly, his co-brother, Prof. K Rajagopal, too had sent his resignation letter as vice-chancellor of Sri Krishnadevaraya University in Tirupati. He would be joining his co-brother soon in the political mission.

Lakshminarayana is now riding on his popularity among the youth, particularly among students from various educational institutions. After his assignment in south as Joint Director of CBI in handling cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy, he became very popular as a sincere officer. But, when he refused to accept investigation into the cases against Chandrababu Naidu, which was not as publicised as the cases of Jagan Mohan Reddy, his graph began falling down. In spite of this, he had become a darling of the students, with the management of private colleges, particularly the engineering colleges, inviting him for special lectures.

Lakshminarayana had toured extensively the two Telugu States and addressed hundreds of meetings in the educational institutions. He found himself as the darling of the youth. This feeling had finally made him to think of a political party. Lok Sattha chief Jayaprakash Narayana too had similar feeling that he would represent the youth of the State and would wrest power. It was for this reason he had floated Lok Satta and the rest is known to everyone.

Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan, who ride on the youth following, too have similar political interests. We have seen what had happened to Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party and we would be seeing the fortunes of Jana Sena in the next elections.

The youth around will be inspiring as they cheer and make noise. But they are alone not enough to win the election. This point is missing even after we have the experiences of Jayaprakash Narayana and Chiranjeevi. Going for elections with the whistles and claps of the youth alone will not bring victory. At the most, like Jayaprakash Narayana and Chiranjeevi, the CBI former chief would also be sharing a portion of the votes from the Telugu Desam Party.

Jayaprakash Narayana and Chiranjeevi had their own share of votes drawn from the TDP, which had suffered a lot because of this two leaders. Now, the addition of Lakshminarayana, besides Pawan Kalyan, is set to cost dear for the TDP.
