Jagan dares Naidu to face CBI probe

A few days after the High Court’s directions on the illegal mining activity in the Palnadu region by the ruling Telugu Desam Party legislator Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao, Opposition YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy dared Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to face CBI probe into the allegations.

Jaganmohan Reddy tweeted on Sunday asking Chandrababu Naidu to get ready for the CBI enquiry if the TDP government was clean on the mining. If there are no irregularities in the mining as being claimed by the TDP and its State government, let them face the enquiry, he said in his tweet.

Jaganmohan Reddy took a strong exception to the State government handing over the case to the CID and said that it was just eyewash and an attempt to save the accused in the case. “CID is very much in his (Chief Minister) hands and the report will be dictated by the government. Let the Chief Minister opt for the CBI probe if he is interested in bringing the facts to the people,” the YSR Congress chief asserted.

The YSR Congress chief said that the TDP leaders have looted over one crore matric tons of mineral wealth since 2014 and the State exchequer had lost heavily. He also alleged that both Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh have their due share in the illegal mining carried out by MLA Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao.

Jaganmohan Reddy recalled the statements of Chandrababu Naidu in the infamous Note for Vote case in Telangana, where he said that AP also has the CID and DGP to file cases against the Telangana government too. This would mean that Chandrababu Naidu can manage the CID and get it acted at his whims and fancies, he said.

The YSR Congress leaders, besides those from the Opposition parties have made an attempt to visit the illegal mining but were stopped by the State police who clamped Section 144. Several of the YSR Congress leaders and the Opposition leaders were kept under house arrest last week and the government prevented them from going to the mines site as a fact finding team.

Following this, Jaganmohan Reddy, who is now in Visakhapatnam tour, had tweeted challenging Chandrababu Naidu to face the CBI probe into the illegal mining activity. It is now to be seen how Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP leaders respond to this challenge.
