The Opposition parties have come out attacking the BJP and the TDP for denial of the Special Category Status (SCS) to the State by the two parties. The leaders took a dig at both Amit Shah of the BJP and Chandrababu Naidu of the TDP on their deals at the cost of the State in the last four years.
Leader of Opposition and YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy took both Shah and Naidu to task in his attack. He question who the BJP was to deny the SCS to the State and who TDP was accept, when the people of entire State have been fighting for it. He blamed the BJP for going back on the promise of SCS and offering special package in its palace. He equally nailed Chandrababu Naidu for dropping the SCS and accepting the package. He said people did not vote for TDP to compromise with the BJP on the concerns of the State. TDP being bigger enemy for his YSR Congress, Jagan Mohan Reddy left no room for Chandrababu Naidu to hide from public scrutiny on his backdoor deals with the BJP at the cost of the State. He reiterated that there was no substitute for the SCS and AP would not accept any alternative to it.
On his part, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan expressed his resentment over the attitude of the two parties in denying the rights of the people. He alleged that both TDP and BJP were playing with the sentiments of the people for their political agenda. He wanted the two parties to keep their political agenda aside and do justice for the State. However, Pawan Kalyan failed to represent the anger and anguish of the people over denial of the SCS to the State by the TDP and the BJP. He said that Shah’s letter to Chandrababu Naidu was a politically-motivated statement to hit the TDP politically rather than helping the State financially.
The CPI is also one of the Opposition parties that had reacted sharply to the on-going war between the TDP and the BJP. CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna, in his letter, wanted the two parties to stop playing with the sentiments of the people.
The CPM too sought to blame the BJP for its false campaign about the Central government’s support to the State. CPM State secretary and former MP, P Madhu said that BJP chief Amit Shah was trying to mislead people on the financial support extended to the State in the last four years, after denying the special category status.
The Opposition parties, thus, have tried to expose the ruling TDP and BJP and are planning to take the claims of the two parties to the people. The open letter of BJP’s Amit Shah and the reply given by Chandrababu Naidu in Assembly are being seen as a political game by the two parties to betray the people. The YSR Congress is set to go all out to expose the two parties. Its chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is already in the midst of the people through his Praja Sankalpa Padayatra already started to speak about the latest war of words being enacted by the BJP and TDP. It is to be seen how people would take this war and judge the parties at the next round of elections.
