Naidu hints at taking lead in regional parties front

Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu, as expected, had given enough indications at the party’s Mahanadu, on his possible role in the national politics for the next election season. He had directed his weapons against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the latter’s failures to deliver what was promised to the people in the 2014 elections. Modi had promised so much for the people of the country and the people of Andhra Pradesh. There was high expectation from Modi with the young and educated looking forward to him. The major expectation was on corruption-free administration, increasing prices, employment generation and bringing back the black money.

People were vexed with the scam after scam in the Congress government. The increasing corruption in the government both the State and the Central government was felt uncomfortable and people wanted some change or an end to this. He had promised to give a corruption-free administration. The educated middle classes have smelled the increasing black money accumulated with a few families in the country. Modi had promised to unearth this black money. Though he had promised to give it back to the people, they wanted him to use it for the nation. But nothing had happened.

Chandrababu Naidu, as an administrator and politician, anticipated more from Modi for Andhra Pradesh. Though he had political differences with Modi, he expected the BJP to deliver for him to stay in power for the next 20 years. He was clear that the people of the new State would prefer him for at least next two elections and his son for some more elections. But, things did not work for him with Modi being indifferent.

Having realised this, Chandrababu Naidu is focusing more on his role in the national politics only to send Modi home. The battle 2019 is set to be Modi Vs Naidu, at least for Andhra Pradesh. Interestingly, the leaders of several regional parties, who are in power in their respective States, too prefer Chandrababu Naidu to take lead. They too want him to fight their battle against Modi. Now that he had declared the war against Modi, it is to be seen how Chandrababu Naidu would make his next move in aligning the regional parties as a force to take on Modi in the next election.
