Naidu hits out at Shah

AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was irked at BJP national president Amti Shah raising doubts over the State government spending on Amaravati and not submitting the Utilisation Certificates. Shah, in Delhi, questioned the right of Chandrababu Naidu in asking for funds for Amaravati city without sending UCs for the funds already given. “When you can’t utilise the money given to you and can’t send the proper UCs, how can you ask for more money?,” was Shah’s contention.

These remarks of Shah have come under sharp criticism from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the Mahanadu who questioned the BJP chief’s role in the Central government. “You are just a party president and Rajya Sabha member. You have no access to what the government is doing. How can you raise issues related to the government activities? Do you have access to the UCs submitted by the State government?  What is your role in the government?” Chandrababu Naidu asked hitting hard at the BJP national president.

The TDP chief also blamed Amti Shah for his unnecessary and unjustified intervention between the two governments – the State and the Centre – where Shah has no role to play. Chandrababu Naidu took a dig at the Union government for spending Rs 7,000 crore for the Statues of Sardar Patel and Chatrapati Sivaji, while the same government had sent just Rs 1500 crore to Amaravati capital city.

Going by the tone of Amit Shah against Chandrababu Naidu and the TDP chiefs counter attack, it is clear that the war is set to be tough and hard hitting in the days to come. There are more missiles to be fired at each other making politics either boring or interesting. Being the president of the national party, Amti Shah is finding more time to hit at a regional party chief and that shows how serious is the BJP on Andhra Pradesh affairs.

Interestingly, BJP AP unit chief Kanna Lakshminarayana too had started his attack on Chandrababu Naidu. Kanna had accused Chandrababu Naidu of aligning with the Congress and branded him as the hired mouthpiece of the Congress. He sought to advise Chandrababu to focus on the State’s development rather than just playing politics. “The TDP had nothing to claim in the last four years. They are not finding even a single point to discuss in the Mahanadu. So they are targeting the BJP. When you have nothing to claim for your success, all that you indulge is blame others. That is what is happening in Mahanadu,” Kanna Lakshminarayana said on the Mahanadu speeches of the TDP leaders.

The war is getting tougher with the leaders from both sides hitting hard at the rivals. Besides BJP, the TDP is also facing tough fight from the YSR Congress and the Jana Sena, who are intensifying their attack on Chandrababu Naidu making it hard for the TDP chief to counter.
