Naidu plans to walk out from NITI Aayog meeting

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is planning to stage a walk out from the 4th General Council meeting of the NITI Aayog. The NITI Aayog is scheduled to meet for two days from Saturday and Chandrababu Naidu had already informed the NITI Aayog vice-chairman about his inability to attend the first day meeting. He is tied-up with the Iftar party on June 16 and will be able to attend the NITI Aayog meeting only on the second and concluding day.

Chandrababu Naidu had prepared a detailed note on the AP Reorganisation Act and the benefits due for the State. The note contains what was promised to the State at the time of bifurcation and the issues like railway zone, steel plant and port at Dugarajapatnam are some of the contentious issues to be resolved yet. The Special Category Status is the major issue that the ruling Telugu Desam Party had taken up, though much later.

Chandrababu Naidu wants to raise these issues and the failure of the Central government to fulfil these promises in the last four years. Making a presentation of these issues, the Chief Minister wants to stage a walk out in protest from the NITI Aayog meeting. He had already asked his party MPs to be present in the national capital on the day when he attends the NITI Aayog meeting. He had also directed the MPs to come with another representation to be given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the day and hold a protest if possible for the failure of the government in fulfilling what was promised to the State.

The TDP is fighting on the Kadapa Steel Plant and the party MP C M Ramesh had already announced that he would launch indefinite hunger strike from June 24 if the Prime Minister fails to make an announcement on the steel plant. Gearing up for a major showdown, the TDP MPs and the Chief Minister are flexing muscles to fight against Narendra Modi.

The TDP is also adopting offensive politics to attack both the BJP at the Centre and the YSR Congress in the State. The ruling party is trying to build a negative image on the two parties projecting them as betrayers of the State conspired against the TDP and the people. As part of such a malicious campaign, the TDP its pro-media had cooked up a story around BJP MLA Akula Satyanarayana and YSR Congress MLA Buggana Rajendranath Reddy accusing them of holding a secret meeting.

While targeting the BJP and YSR Congress on one side accusing them of conspiring against the State, Chandrababu Naidu wants to use the NITI Aayog meeting to register his fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and emerge as a strong alternative to the Modi’s leadership.
