TDP to build national alternative to NDA

The angry Telugu Desam Party in the State had decided to build a national alternative to the ruling NDA at the Centre. While not making it clear whether it would take the help of the Congress in fighting against the BJP-led NDA or not, the TDP had decided to speed up the process of building the national alternative.

The decision was taken at the Parliamentary Party meeting of the TDP where the issues like the Income Tax raids were discussed. The MPs echoed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s feelings on the IT raids in the State and condemned this witch-hunt by the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The TDP felt that Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah were working against their rivals in Andhra Pradesh as they have done in the case of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, where the opposition parties were targeted with the IT and ED cases.

The TDP wanted to teach a lesson or two to the Prime Minister in the political witch-hunt. The TDP would now speed up its work in bringing the non-BJP and non-NDA parties at the national level together. The TDP leadership is in touch with the Trinamool Congress and other parties. The TDP is also trying to establish contact with some of the regional parties in the NDA, which were not happy with the BJP.

The TDP MPs were now guided to stay in Delhi and keep meeting the leaders of various parties in the mission to float a third national alternative to the BJP’s NDA and Congress party’s UPA. This UPA might even associate with the third alternative as Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP had tied up in Telangana this time.

While justifying the alliance with the Congress in Telangana, the TDP MPs in the meeting felt that there is need to associate with every non-BJP party at the national level to defeat Modi-Shah in the next election. The target now, for the TDP, is to defeat Modi and the party plans to spend more time and energy on this mission. The party is also thinking on campaigning against the BJP in the four northern States where elections are scheduled for November-December.
