Is Telangana firebrand leader Revanth Reddy is working for Congress-TDP alliance? Is Revanth still in touch with Chandrababu? Is Revanth working with Rahul’s suggestions to put Congress on the victory path in Telangana? The answer to these questions seems to be yes. From the beginning, some senior leaders in the Congress party had doubts over Revanth Reddy’s entry into the party. They had said that Revanth entered the Congress party with permission from Chandrababu. Even when Revanth was in Telugu Desam Party, he was acting in favour of Congress. He was the first to suggest that TDP should have an alliance with Congress. Senior leader Jaipal Reddy had supported this. Backing Revanth Reddy, Jaipal Reddy had commented that TDP is not an untouchable party.
However, some senior leaders in TDP had then differed with Revanth. Especially senior leaders like Motkupalli publicly condemned Revanth’s remarks. Motkupalli wanted to know if Revanth stated this as TDP working president or in his personal capacity. Some leaders had also complained to Chandrababu. However, Chandrababu ignored Revanth’s comments. He said that the decision on alliance will be taken at the time of elections.
Subsequently, Revanth went to Amaravati and announced that he is resigning from TDP. He also submitted his resignation letter as MLA to Chandrababu. So far nobody knows where is that resignation letter. The Speaker’s office says the letter has not reached them while Telangana leaders of TDP claim that Chandrababu has forward that resignation letter. Even while leaving TDP, Revanth did not make a single negative comment about Chandrababu. Similarly, Chandrababu also did not criticize Revanth. Thus Revanth cautiously crossed over from TDP to Congress.
There is a talk in Gandhi Bhavan that Uttam Kumar Reddy is using Revanth for TDP-Congress alliance. Some Congress leaders say Chandrababu and Revanth still have friendly relations. One section of leaders in Telangana is not ready to have an alliance with Chandrababu. Some leaders are opposing the alliance on the ground that such a tie-up for the sake of seats in Greater Hyderabad will put the party’s survival at stake. However, PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy is ready for an alliance with TDP. For this, he is reportedly using Revanth Reddy. Though high command’s decision on alliance will be final, PCC is learnt to have decided to go with TDP. Overall, Revanth Reddy has become key in the entire issue of alliance between the two parties.
