Fact Check: Viral image shows Jumma Masjid in Bengaluru, picture is morphed deleting name in Kannada

A group of people, sporting yellow and red scarves symbolizing the Kannada flag, was seen tearing down English posters on the streets of Bengaluru demanding the installation of signboards in Kannada.
In this context, a photo of a masjid is in circulation on X (Twitter) with the claim that it shows Jamia Masjid in Bengaluru and there is no Kannada signboard on it.
The claim goes “Jamia Masjid, Bangalore, Karnataka. The signboard has no #Kannada text. Let's see if "save our language/culture warrior" protests against it or not... Kannada warriors? #Karnataka”
Fact Check:
The claim is False. The image shows the Jumma Masjid in Bengaluru and not Jamia Masjid. There is a Kannada signboard on it. The viral image is edited.
When we searched with the keywords “ Jamia Masjid in Bengaluru” we found a few videos that showed Jamia Masjid in Bengaluru. Jamia Masjid is a completely different building from the viral image.
Flickr.com shows a photo of the masjid similar to that in the viral image with the description “The oldest mosque of Bangalore (built around 1790), Jumma Masjid was earlier known as Sangian Jamia Masjid. The mosque is renowned for its beautiful architecture. The brick and mortar structure of the masjid has an impressive facade, embellished with elaborate jali work and floral motifs.”
A video published on Facebook in September 2018 shows the Masjid front gate which shows a Kannada signboard.
When searched for further details, we found a video published on YouTube with the title “Bangalore Jamiya Maszid |Jamia Masjid Bangalore|Kr market Jamiya maszid| Jamiya Maszid” published in December 2022.
In this video, we can see the signboard on the gate of the masjid and we can also see the name of the Masjid in Kannada, Urdu as well as English.
When we performed a Google reverse image search of the viral image, we found a few articles sharing the image confirming that it shows the Jumma masjid in Bengaluru and not Jamia Masjid.
According to electronic-city.in, the image shows the Jumma Masjid on OPH road of Shivajinagar in Bengaluru.
When searched for Jumma Masjid in Google Maps, we found a few images of the masjid that show the board which displays names in Kannada, Urdu, and also in English.
Therefore, the viral image shows the Jumma Masjid in Bengaluru and not the Jamia Masjid. The claim that there is no Kannada language on the signboard at the Masjid is False. The name boards of both the masjids have Kannada language on them. The viral image is edited.
