Vedic rituals for the consecration ceremony of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya will begin on January 16, 2024. From January 14 to January 22, Ayodhya will celebrate Amrit Mahotsav when more than a lakh devotees are expected to visit the place on the occasion.

Around 6,000 invitation cards have been sent out by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for the ceremony. Meanwhile, a video of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi walking in the streets of Ayodhya is shared with the claim that he is going door to door inviting people for the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir.

Fact Check:

The claim is Misleading. The video shows the Indian Prime minister visiting the home of one of the Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries in Ayodhya.

When searched for reports about PM Modi inviting people in Ayodhya for the consecration ceremony, we did not find any news.

The consecration ceremony is organized by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which is not related to the Government of India. The formation of the Trust has been announced by the Indian Prime Minister.

When the extracted keyframes from the video were searched using Google reverse image search, we found a video published by SumanTV News on January 1, 2024, with the title “PM Modi at 10th crore Ujjwala Yojana Beneficiary’s home In Ayodhya I Latest Telugu News” which shows exactly the same visuals as in the viral video.

According to cnbctv18.com, Modi who was in the temple town of Ayodhya to inaugurate the airport and renovated railway station, made a sudden stopover at the woman’s house who holds the distinction of being the 10th crore beneficiary of the Ujjwala scheme. The scheme was started in May 2016 to provide LPG connections to women of below poverty line (BPL) families.

According to reports, the Indian PM asked the public not to overcrowd Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. He requested the devotees of Lord Rama to visit Ayodhya at their convenience after the completion of the consecration ceremony.

Hence, the viral video does not show PM Modi going door to door to invite the public to visit the consecration ceremony at Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The claim is Misleading.
