Fact Check: Video showing demo by Hindus is an old one from Nagpur in support of Bangladeshi Hindus

Violence erupted in Nagpur's Chitnis Park on Monday following clashes over rumors during the right-wing agitation in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The situation later escalated, with mobs throwing stones at police, and locals' homes and torching cars and bikes. Violent clashes shook Nagpur’s Mahal area between two communities of Hindu and Muslim on March 17, 2025, following clashes over rumors during the agitation by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The situation later escalated, with mobs throwing stones at police, locals' homes, and torching cars and bikes, as rumors spread about a cloth (chadar) and Quranic verses being burnt during this agitation. A total of seven people were arrested in this matter and later released by the Nagpur police. More than 140 objectionable content, including social media posts, have been identified by the police and notices were sent to these accounts asking for immediate removal.
After this incident, a video showing a massive gathering of people holding saffron flags and shouting slogans in praise of Chatrapati Sivaji is going viral on social media with the caption “Power of Nagpur”.

The claim is False. The video is an old one showing Sakal Hindu Samaj Morcha in Nagpur in support of Bangladeshi Hindus.
When we extracted the keyframes from the video and searched using the Google reverse image search, we found that an Instagram user named vedantcreation shared the same video with the caption “Sakal Hindu Samaz Dwara Ayojit Jann Akrosh Morcha at Variety Square Nagpur” on December 10, 2024. We could also see the banners of “Sakal Hindu Samaj” in the background.
The same account shared the same video with the caption ‘Power of Nagpur’ on the same day – December 10, 2024.
When we searched the keywords “Sakal Hindu Samaj” + Nagpur, we found an article published on Socialnews.xyz, sharing the images of the event that occurred in Nagpur in support of Bangladeshi Hindus. The images show Members of Sakal Hindu Samaj, including Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, participating in the ‘Jago Hindu Jago’ – Hindu Nyaya Yatra, a march against atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, at Variety Chowk in Nagpur on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
An article in Times of India also states that thousands of poeple attended the rally at Variety Square here, which was organised by Sakal Hindu Samaj to protest against atrocities on Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. Hence, the video is old one showing the Sakal Hindu Samaj Morcha protest in Nagpur in support of Bangladeshi Hindus.
