Fact Check: Video showing Modi walking on his hands makes a false claim, it is morphed
A 3min 47sec video shared on the internet shows a Sadhu on a handstand pose at a Hindu temple. Multiple social media users shared the video on their accounts with the claim that “PM Narendra Modi Performing Yoga in his Younger Days”.
Some others sharing the same video with different captions like “A rare view of Narendra Modi while performing Yoga”.
Whereas another user said: “No one knows that one day this person became the Prime Minister of India”.
Fact Check: The claim is False. This video is not related to PM Narendra Modi.
On searching the keyframes using Google reverse image search, we found this video has been uploaded by Yogi Narmada Nath Ji on his Facebook page on June 21, 2021, with a caption: “Param Yogi Mahadev Kedareshwar’s Shri Charan Acharya Shri Santosh Trivedi ji circumambulating Kedarnath Jyotirlinga temple with his yoga”.
If you observe the video closely you can find the snow fall is looking quite unnatural. It looks like an effect rather than snowfall. The blue colour in the video appears to be a filter but not real.
On further investigation, we found an article published by ANI on March 22, 2024, with a title: “International Yoga Day: Acharya Santosh Trivedi performs handstand yoga mudra in Kedarnath temple”.
When we searched the word Acharya Santosh Trivedi performs handstand yoga mudra at Kedarnath temple on Google we found more news & information regarding it.
According to The Communemag: “Kedarnath temple priest goes walking with hands to worship Lord Shiva in Kedarnath”.
Shree Kedar 360 Trust shared the same video on their official X account on June 21, 2021, with a caption: “Teerth Purohit 'Acharya Shri Santosh Trivedi’ celebrating International Yoga Day at Kedarnath temple. The skill and competency owned by Shri Acharya ji is exemplary and motivates many people across the globe. Jai Shri Kedarnath”.
Hence the claim is false.
The man walking around the Kedarnath temple premises is Acharya Santosh Trivedi who is performing Yoga on the occasion of International Yoga Day in 2021.
