Many believe that spitting in food makes it Halal. Several videos showing people spitting in food and drinks are in circulation on social media with various captions.

Fact Check:
The claim is False. The video does not show a Muslim fruit juice vendor spitting in the juice. It is a prank video.
When we extracted keyframes from the viral video, we found there is an Arabic text on these keyframes. When we used Google Lens and translated the text to English, it stated ‘Thaer Abu Zubaida’s prank at the Islamic University’. A watermark of TikTok can also be seen on the video tagging @mahmood.246.

We also found that the video was shared on an Arabic YouTube channel named Safawat Mustafa Dahir. The video’s title states that it is a prank by Thaer Abu Zubeida.
When we searched for Thaer Abu Zubeida's social media handles, we found Instagram, Facebook handles, and a YouTube channel named Thaer Zubida. The description of the channel states that he is “a theater and cinema artist, hidden camera presenter”
Though we did not find the viral video on any of these handles, we found that it was the same person acting as the fruit juice vendor. When we searched for TikTok video, we found an archived video showing a longer version of the viral video. The 1.47 video shows the customer who later realizes that it is a prank, comes back and hugs the shop vendor, Thaer Abu Zbeda. The people around them can be seen clapping and cheering.
