FACT CHECK:
We performed a keyword search and found the same footage posted in 2018, clearly indicating that the incident did not take place recently.
NDTV reported that a person had thrown a slipper at CM Chouhan during a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi in 2018. The slipper narrowly missed Chouhan. After the incident, the MP chief minister stopped his election speech as security personnel encircled him on the stage. The reports also state that even stones were hurled at Chouhan.
According to Deccan Herald and The Tribune, though the identity of the person who hurled the shoe at the CM is not known, it is rumoured that it was allegedly hurled by those who were protesting amendments to the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Prior to the shoe hurling incident, stones were hurled at Chouhan’s bus, during the “Jan Aashirwad Yatra '' near Patpara village. Police arrested nine persons for throwing stones at the vehicle.
The same was also reported by Zee News in 2018.
Evidently, a five-year-old video is being shared on the internet with a misleading claim that a shoe was thrown at MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a recent event.
