A video of a woman being dragged out of a car and shot by a few men is in circulation on social media with the narrative that it shows a murder of a lady supporting RSS in Kerala. The video is shot right in the middle of a street packed with people. It also shows the woman trying to run away but being dragged and getting shot at.

The claim goes as “In Kerala an RSS Lady worker was shot dead by Ms... enough is enough... check it out”

Fact Check:

The claim that the viral video shows the murder of a woman supporter of the RSS is false. The video shows a street play performed in 2017 based on the death of journalist Gauri Lankesh.

This video was also shared in 2017 with the same claim, after which several articles were published refuting the claim. According to a report published in Asianet News which shared the screenshots from the viral video, the clip shows a street play performed by the Democratic Youth Federation of India at Kalikavu in Malappuram. The street play was a reaction to the murder of Bengaluru journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was shot dead outside her house in September 2017.

CPI(M) cyber commune shared the viral video on its Facebook account in September 2017 with the caption in Malayalam.

Hence, the viral video is a clip from a street play performed at Malappuram in 2017. The claim is false.
