A video of a foreigner sitting on the floor with folded hands and praying to the Hindu deities is going viral with the claim that he is the Home Minister of New Zealand who has adopted Hindu Dharma. In front of the person, we can see a few leaves with Swastika written on them and diyas burning nearby. The video has the song ‘Yug Ram Raj ka aa gaya’ composed for Ayodhya Ram Mandir's inauguration.
Fact Check:
The claim is False. The video shows a yoga trainer from America who is the husband of an Indian TV actress.
When we observed, we found that the video had @ibrentgoble written along with the Instagram logo watermark in the video. When searched further, we found the Instagram account named ibrentgoble, whose bio states that he is Brent Goble, Yoga Teacher.
The viral video was published by him on November 2, 2023, with the caption “Last night was Alex’s naming ceremony While Hinduism isn’t part of my upbringing, I love taking part in the rituals that are important to my wife and in-laws. I pray my son grows beautifully through life, faces necessary challenges, fights with fierce passion, and loves with an open heart. “
His social media profiles state that he hails from the United States of America and now resides in India, practicing Yoga.
He is married to TV actress Aashka Goradia and the couple welcomed a baby boy in November 2023 when he posted the viral video on Instagram.
The official website of the New Zealand government shows no Home Ministry on it. According to the Ministries list published on the site on January 26, 2024, there is no Home Ministry and also no mention of Brent Goble.
Hence, the video does not show the Home Minister of New Zealand but a yoga trainer who is married to an Indian TV actress and living in India. The claim is False.
