Fact Check:
The video of people eating food on carton straps at a BJP meeting is false.
We did a reverse image search of the screenshots from the video, and found a tweet by a journalist containing a video with similar visuals, tweeted on October 27, 2022. This journalist reported it as the visuals from the Golla-Kuruma caste meeting organised by the TRS party ahead of the Munugode bypoll. BSP Telangana leader R.S. Praveen Kumar also tweeted the same video.
The tweet read, "Ahead of Munugode Bye-poll, these men & women were served meals on carton straps (attalu) at Golla-Kuruma caste meet organised by the TRS. It shows the practice of caste, similarly, lower castes are treated without any dignity iEenadu dominant caste ppls functions."
Further, we found a news report published by the 'Eenadu' newspaper on October 27, 2022. According to the news report, this incident occurred at the TRS party's Golla-Kuruma Athmiya Sammelan at a function hall in Manneguda, a locality in Hyderabad, Telangana. As a massive crowd gathered for the meeting, organisers were unable to control them and a section of the people ate their food on carton straps owing to lack of plates.
We also found that several other news websites published articles relaying the same information in October 2022.
