Despite its safe proximity, as per NASA, it is moving at the speed of 40233 km/h, which is concerning. The asteroid will reach its closest point to Earth on September 17, 2024. The 2024 ON asteroid was discovered by ATLAS sky survey on July 27, 2024. NASA's Near-earth Object Observations program is keeping a close eye on this stellar event through the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) located in California.
Meanwhile, an amazing video showing a huge mysterious green meteor blazing over the city, while onlookers are watching, is in circulation with the claim that it shows the event of asteroid fall on September 15, 2024, in the city of Bengaluru. The social media users shared the video with captions like “Will an asteroid hit Earth on 15 September? A "potentially hazardous" asteroid named 2024 ON #asteroid”

The claim is Misleading. The video is an old one and is not related to the asteroid fall on September 15, 2024.
When we extracted the keyframes from the video and searched using the Google reverse image search, we found that the viral video is in circulation online since July 2024.
A longer video was shared by a Facebook page “Global Disasters News” with the title ‘Meteor crossed the skies over the Turkish city of Istanbul. July 06, 2024’
The viral video was also shared on Dailymotion by Haberler.com, with the title ‘Meteorite spotted in skies of Istanbul was recorded like this.
The description of the video states that a meteor was seen in the skies in many provinces including Istanbul and Ankara, Sakarya, and Bursa. METEORITE IN ISTANBUL SKIES In the images shared on social media, the meteor seen from many points in Istanbul was caught by cameras. In the video, the meteor, which sheds light around, was captured on camera second by second as it passed through the atmosphere. The astonishment experienced by the citizens who shot the images was also recorded moment by moment. SEEN IN ANKARA AND MANY PROVINCES On the other hand, the meteor, which was moving in the sky and practically turning night into day by emitting light around it, was also seen in Ankara, Bursa, Sakarya and many provinces in addition to Istanbul.
A YouTube channel named Torquenews also shared the viral video on July 6, 2024.
Times Now article stated that the users from several Turkish cities reported seeing fireballs in the sky. Videos and photos of the same were shared on social media, with many suggesting that it could be a possible meteor. But Times Now did not verify the authenticity of the videos.
The article published by ‘The Sun’ also shared the images from the video with the captions like ‘The absurd object was seen shooting across the sky, onlookers watched in amazement’. The credit to the screenshots was given by Twitter.
Turkish Space Agency also confirmed that the meteor shower occurred in Turkey.
