After more than a decade of trying his luck in politics, the film star became the deputy CM. He has been active after assuming office. Recently, he chaired a meeting on sanitation and solid waste management at the Commissioner’s office, Panchayati Raj & Rural Development in Tadepalli, Guntur District.
A video of him getting disturbed and walking away from the meeting, when the mic did not work is in circulation on social media, especially X. The video shows AP’s deputy CM struggling to talk on the mic provided by the organizers and then getting up from the seat and walking away. This video is shared with the caption in Telugu “నాకు ఇంట్రెస్ట్ పోయింది.. మైక్ పనిచేయకపోవడంతో కోపంగా లేచి వెళ్ళిపోయిన డిప్యూటి సీఎం పవన్ కళ్యాణ్. #Pawanakalyan #
Fact check:
The claim is Misleading. The Deputy CM did not walk away from the meeting, he got up and addressed the gathering using a stand-in mic.
When we observed the comments on the viral video, we could see that some users shared the moments after he got up from the chair and walked up to a stand-in mic and addressed the gathering.
Taking this as a cue and using the keywords, we found a YouTube video published on Channel Mango News with the caption in Telugu “మైక్ పనిచేయకపోవడంతో డిప్యూటీ CM చేసిన పని చూస్తే శభాష్ అంటారు | Pawan Kalyan | AP Govt | Janasena”. When translated, it states that ‘If you see what Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan has done as mic is not working, you will praise him’. In this longer video, we can see that after the mic did not work during the meeting, Pawan Kalyan got up and walked towards the stand-in mic and started addressing the gathering.
We found another video of him addressing the gathering at the same event. It is shared with the caption ‘Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Talks About Waste Recycling. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Chairs Meeting on Sanitation and Solid Waste Management at Commissioner's Office, Panchayat Raj & Rural Development, Tadepalli, Guntur District.’
Hence, the viral video is a short version of the incident with a misleading claim. The deputy CM of AP did not walk away from an event because the mic did not work, he got up and addressed using a stand-in mic. The claim is Misleading.
